“LITTLE TRANSFORMATIONS”
Feldenkrais for Actors
at Sadlers Wells,Roseberry Ave, London EC1R 4TN
10am-1pm £65
What is it that makes us read stories into people before they even speak? How do we decide they are diffident, out-going, self-interested, empathetic? That their story contains sadness, violence, abundance or loss?
What do we see in the little ways people stand, move, gesture differently that is the ‘tell’ without us – or them – knowing? But if we can be more aware of the habitual ways we stand and move through the world ourselves, we may be able to find more nuanced variations and new possibilities that give us insight into our own patterns, and invite the audience to read us differently when we wish to tell another story.
In this workshop we will use small, slow, detailed Awareness Through Movement lessons from the Feldenkrais Method, as well as acting games, to follow what we feel, avoid caricature and explore the little differences that make all the difference.

Do I need to say how much time we can end up sitting for?
How our systems get out of balance?
Some muscles of the hips become over contracted, others forgetful of their contractile power, and the loss of potential elastic recoil.
And so the disruption to our ability to find uprightness and support in standing, to finding power for walking, running and so on.
So: Anti sitting. Just 3 hours to explore,
remind ourselves of and challenge ourselves with
some of the useful differences and opposites

“INVESTIGATING SQUATTING"
Advanced Training for Professional Practitioners

10.30-5.30 euro 280
FIs with Victoria Available to book on 3rd Nov

Squatting is a fundamental human movement, and we have mostly lost it from our culture outside of the gym. But if we leave behind the unhelpful pressure of trying to achieve a full squat and simply explore the elements that go towards it, we can find so much useful learning and improvement in so many ways:
Mobility in the hip, knee and ankle joints
Relationship of the pelvis to legs and back
Extension through the upper back
Folding and unfolding to get up and down from the floor
Ability to lift and lower objects from the floor
Easier sitting on a chair and improved standingI’m sure we could find more! But we can make a start over two days using Awareness Through Movement and Functional Integration to investigate this rich topic!
BOOKING: Simon Brod or Andrea Derkse
